Holy Sheet, It’s a Little Pig

Two hostels with attitude

Backpackers come to Bangkok from all over the world.  The city continues to be the most visited in the world.  When young folks visit, many stay in the famous Khao San Road area.  There are literally dozens of hostels to choose from and the area is famous for its craziness and fun loving spirit.

But not everyone stays at Khao San Road.  There are hostels located all over the city, including in my neighbourhood.  Just about 10 minutes from my apartment, there are two small hostels located in a small and busy Soi, that is very near to one of the BTS skytrain stations.  This Soi is one of my favourites, as it’s vibrant and always busy with shops, restaurants, street hawkers and lots of activities.

Now why would I write about two small hostels in a city with thousands of them.  Well the answer has to do with the names and the accommodation styles.

The first hostel I want to mention is called The Little Pig.  It seems like a clean and decent place, as depicted with many photos on its website.   However, it does have a very weird name, which doesn’t seem to have anything to do with its function.  It doesn’t, for example, based on the website photos, seem like a pigsty.

Not to be outdone on the naming front is its next door neighbour, the Holy Sheet Hostel.  In my opinion this is an even more awesome name for a hostel.  It’s more descriptive and representative of the business’ mission.  But what’s even more crazy about this hostel is its advertised room styles, and I quote:

‘HOLY SHEET Hostel’ has 6 rooms, including…

  • THE HOLY ORGY – A Mixed Dormitory with 10 comfortable single bunkbeds with a curtain for your private activities in bed 😉
  • DRAMA QUEENS – A Female Dormitory with 4 Queen-size bunk beds with a curtain. No man’s land!
  • DRAMA QUEENS II – A Mixed Dormitory with 4 Queen-size bunk beds with a curtain. Suitable for an XL body type.
  • PRINCE’S CHAMBER – A private room with a King-size bed. Shared bathroom. Epic garden view outta window.
  • VAMPIRE DUNGEON – A private room with a King-size bed but no windows. Good for those who don’t wanna wake up early by the sun. Shared bathroom.
  • THE KING ZONE – An Ensuite with a King-size bed with bathroom. The best room in the building offering the most spectacular garden view of Bangkok.

This is quite a selection of accommodations. Who needs Khao San Road when in my own neighbourhood you can stay in a holy orgy room with 9 other people!!! 😮

Anyway, it’s good to know that hostel beds are available everywhere in Bangkok, including close to where I live.  Who knows, maybe someone who wants to visit might choose one of these fine places to stay.  Like I said earlier, the little street in which these hostels live is amazing.

  1. As long as The Liitle Pig does not end up between the Holy Sheets, all will GE well. After all, “we set the price high to protect from those scum thieves to stay in our community.”
    Nuff said.

    • When I walk by these two hostels, it seems like they are pretty innocent places. I don’t think this particular Soi would stand for bad behaviour. It’s a real family street with lots of small kids and family businesses. I’ve also never seen creepy old western guys in this part of town.

  2. Holy Amazing!
How to comment on this particular entry of yours?
Nice, family, neighbourhood enterprises – their names and English description is definitely enterprising. It would be interesting to know how well they do. Business-wise.

    • I occasionally see young westerners outside of these places. But I have no idea how well they do. These two hostels are a bit off the beaten track for normal tourist traffic. However, there is a very large university just a short walk away, so maybe that’s a bit of a draw.
