A Natural Coffee Experience ☕️

Yesterday, it was a post on a tea house in Bangkok. Today it’s a post on a coffee house  owned by a company called Nana Coffee Roasters., The coffee shop is located in Chonburi, a small town about 80km southeast from Bangkok. This particular coffee shop is as unique as the tea house.  It’s based on housing giant house plants that the owners love and nurture. The largest of these plants, trees actually, is a Baobab tree that is happily growing through the roof of one part of the building. There are also other trees in this multifaceted building as well as a lovely Banyan tree that is the focus of attention just outside the building.

The Baobab tree is, by the way, of African descent but seems to be happy also living in Thailand. It is unusually shaped and very interesting to look at.

The building is wonderfully organic, with a dramatic blackened wood exterior cladding and lovely light wood interiors. There are indoor and outdoor seating areas and a very cool and nature filled environment to accompany your coffee experience.

The architects who designed this building are the same Thai team that designed the tea house shown yesterday. They seem very happy pleasing both tea and coffee drinkers in shops that are quite lovely and unusual. I guess that makes your drinking experience that much more memorable. After all, in Canada the very expensive coffee or tea sold in places like Starbucks and David’s Teas don’t generally have the environmental experience to match the quality of the brew. But here in Thailand your coffee and tea experience is elevated to greater heights by providing some very lovely spaces in which to sip away.

So whether it’s coffee or tea, there are lovely shops, like the one shown above to enjoy.

And remember, as the sign inscribed on the floor of the coffee shop, shown in the last slide, says: “May the coffee be with you.” (Thais also have a very good sense of humour.)

  1. Some of the slides are reminiscent of Frank Gehry’s cafe at the front of the AGO. Narrow with some curves and blonde wood. Of course the baobab tree wouldn’t make it here. And I imagine you only assume that the coffee is good.

    • I can’t comment on the coffee, but the building is very well done. The tree definitely wouldn’t make it except maybe if it was indoors.
