It’s been only a very short time since I talked about Fuller Brushes, one of my favourite Bangkok Blog topics. That was back in May of this year. You can read that entry HERE. It has links to other Fuller Brush posts.
I couldn’t resist taking at least one more sweep at a Fuller Brush story based on a recent visit with my colleagues to a very large home hardware and decoration store in Bangkok. This store, called Home Pro, is a lot like a Canadian Tire store. It’s huge and sells everything for home needs.
One of the items that immediately caught my attention was a very upscale version of Fuller Brushes, this time branded as Sweepy. These Sweepy Fuller Brushes cost three times as much as the exact same ones that are for sale by street hawkers. Sure, they have flashy Sweepy branded covers but they’re the exact same as the the street versions. I guess branding often makes the difference, allowing a vendor to add a few hundred percent to the price.. But I’m no marketing expert, so who knows why someone would buy a Sweepy instead of a standard street level Fuller Brush.
Anyway, my never-ending fascination with Thai Fuller Brushes continues, this time with the knowledge that there is a high-class branded Sweepy version for sale in a pretty high end home decor store.

Hard to balance a high end clean “Sweepy” with a “Fuller” experience. I know, you now want to give me the “Brush Off”
No brush off needed. There is definitely a tension between a Sweepy and a Street Fuller. Maybe a Mai Thai bout is necessary. I’m pretty sure that the Sweepy would be swept away, probably in round 1.
